CA South of England Championship
CA South of England Championship by Roger Wood
This is my first foray into croquetscores so some of it has been very much a learning curve. Some thanks are due:
First to Tim Murphy for getting me out of a hole concerning the number of entrants.
Second to Gabrielle Higgins for acting as scorer via her 'phone (Compton does not have WiFi).
Even so we were not able to update the site in anything like real time - I'll try to be better organised next time!
A word about the scoring for the Swiss. What is shown here differs from the way that I calculate results. In my scheme players enter the Swiss as they are eliminated from the knockout, but games played in the knockout and the Swiss both contribute to the final percentage won of games played. In this instance Jack Wicks is the Swiss winner which ever way the assessment is done.

I should also add that it is my policy not to allow losing semi-finalists into the Swiss because it is invariably the case that they enter at or very near the
top of the rankings at that point and it seems to me that it is not quite fair for those who have got so close to the final of the knockout should be in an advantageous position to hijack the Swiss. Alert readers will have spotted that Ed Duckworth did indeed play some Swiss games, but on the strict understanding that his did not qualify him for the plate. He then promptly beat me (who played a few Swiss games to make up numbers) by 26sxp!!
