Lawn 2: Greg Bryant (NZ) vs Jeff Soo (USA) by Jarrod Coutts

Bryant will be b an k with Soo r an y

G1
B to eb 12y n c4
R to wb 6 ft n of 5
K misses partner narrowly.. must have been pretty close
Y misses the tice to c2

01 Jan 2014 8:01AM (Tournament); 19 Readers

K fails h1
r misses to wb 5y n of 1
K runs 1ft hoop musses 6y return on B
Y shoots from c2 at r.. hits. Good croquet stroke going to B an should be first break to Soo

01 Jan 2014 8:13AM (Tournament); 25 Readers

Soo runs h1 with y an is away

01 Jan 2014 8:17AM (Tournament); 29 Readers

Currently approaching h5, no drama's so far, will we be seeing a spread or an NSL? I'm going to guess an NSL.. grovels through H5! looks like he can hit R or B.. Liz comes on to referee.. Soo has asked to get the hoop checked so y has been lifted up and will be placed back to play the hampered shot. Hoop no problems. eyeing up whether to take the shorter more difficult shot at r or the basic 3 yarder at B. lines up r but a change of mind an goes for B

01 Jan 2014 8:26AM (Tournament); 38 Readers

Nice NSL from Soo, B at h4 an K 3y of wb level with h6

01 Jan 2014 8:36AM (Tournament); 46 Readers

delays again sorry... So begun his second break but I think missed a Hampered shot, both Bryant an Soo missed roquets but Bryant is now in play with K an approaching H5. r on h4, y on 4b an B on h1

01 Jan 2014 9:06AM (Tournament); 54 Readers

Bryant spend a long time after h4 thinking about what he was going to do. currently approaching h1 and is playing with that very high level of focus and intensity that comes with any match involving him. Currently has partner at 2b and after 1b positions r on the wb 2y n of the peg but doesn't look entirely pleased with it

01 Jan 2014 9:14AM (Tournament); 51 Readers

after 3, y is rushed 1y off the eb 2ys south of the peg an b has a 9inch rush on b pointing at h3 which I am assusming he wants to cut to c2

01 Jan 2014 9:21AM (Tournament); 48 Readers

cut rush gets b to NB inbetween h2 an h6, rolls b to what looks like 2y e of c2 and k goes down an roquets r. Comes down to c4 to have a look at it, looks like k will be finishing in c4

01 Jan 2014 9:25AM (Tournament); 48 Readers

well its unconventional but he is round to 4b. k in c4 (4b) y n eb 1y in lawn 2yn of the peg (4b), r on wb peg high (4) an b 2ye of c2 (1)

01 Jan 2014 9:28AM (Tournament); 47 Readers

last couple of comments don't appear to have gone through; basically,
Soo misses the lift,
Bryant misses 14 yarder up the line
Soo makes a leave
Bryant hits 26y double and is currently approaching h1 off partner from a ft with a pioneer at h2 an y 5ye of 3

01 Jan 2014 9:42AM (Tournament); 47 Readers

1 peel done currently approaching h6 from 2y e peele sitting 2ft nw of penault. Has a 2ft hoop6.. good controlled stroke a good shot may be able to jaws peele going to 2 which is 2ye of 6

01 Jan 2014 10:03AM (Tournament); 47 Readers

doesn't jaws 6 and loading 2b with r bombards into peele (I think!). Makes 1b, has a 4y return on y, rushes to near h3, loads 3b and goes to r which is 2y s of 6. will be rushing partner to 2b from 2y w of peg, rushes to 2yw of 2b

01 Jan 2014 10:13AM (Tournament); 47 Readers

good approach, has 18inch hoop 10-15 degrees with k 2y of sb if he can run to the line.. creams it but catches a lot of wire and finishes level with k

01 Jan 2014 10:15AM (Tournament); 45 Readers

runs 3b but looks very very hampered on y which is 3y n 5degrees west.. could get the line with a sweep but unsure about the power.. going down to look at the sweep, very critical as remember r is for h4 and r an k appear to be open near h6 3y's apart

01 Jan 2014 10:21AM (Tournament); 49 Readers

still taking his time.. has looked it from several approaches but choosing between mallet on approx. a 45degree angle for the sweep to help get the extra power an keep it straight rather than the 90 degree mallet angle where you are more likely to pull it round when you require this much power

01 Jan 2014 10:27AM (Tournament); 48 Readers

just sails past to the ooooooooooooohhh of the crowd.. now we have 4b an penault vs 4b an 4

01 Jan 2014 10:28AM (Tournament); 51 Readers

Soo hits the 2 yarder (I said 4y before!) has 2 balls at his hoop and sends k to h3 intending to be playing a delayed tp

01 Jan 2014 10:29AM (Tournament); 51 Readers

Establishes a break, but sticks in h6. gets it checked, but its legal
K snicks the 9 yarder at y.. will be at the peg soon to be 4b an peg vs 4b an either 6 or most likely 1b. What will the leave be?

01 Jan 2014 10:42AM (Tournament); 54 Readers

Good time for the power source to die..

01 Jan 2014 11:07AM (Tournament); 53 Readers

K currently shooting at 14 yarder at y which is with r on the sb.. hits! on the right side to so finishes 1ftw of r. B on the EB 2ys of 6. A couple of good shots and could finish here

01 Jan 2014 11:09AM (Tournament); 53 Readers

sets a leave instead, r 1ys of 1b (r for 1b) y on the sb 2yw of 4, b an k on the eb a few yards north of the peg with a rush to 4b/r. Im assuming both y an r only have a target at a single ball as Bryant looked happy with it

01 Jan 2014 11:14AM (Tournament); 54 Readers

Soo shoots.. loves it walks up but then hills off last second. Unlucky, looked like a good shot under pressure. Y finishes 4y N of b an k

01 Jan 2014 11:16AM (Tournament); 55 Readers

Jenny approaching rover with R at the peg and will be the first match finished 2-0 to give NZ a 7-0 lead

01 Jan 2014 11:17AM (Tournament); 53 Readers

apologies - last comment was wrong. Jenny on a break to peg to go 4b an peg. Nice looking spread

01 Jan 2014 11:19AM (Tournament); 50 Readers

Greg gets a rush nw of R (by 1b) and loads y to rover finishing 1ye but doesn't get a good rush to penault. Good cut but still facing a 5y straight on approach.. sends r to 1ynw of rover and 18inch hoop. Doesn't catch much wire and now has a 9 yarder at r or y

01 Jan 2014 11:22AM (Tournament); 54 Readers

Middles it.. goes to k on eb peg high, rolls it to 3y sw of the peg gets a 1y rush on y

01 Jan 2014 11:24AM (Tournament); 53 Readers

2ft approach

01 Jan 2014 11:25AM (Tournament); 54 Readers

catches a lot of wire going through rover but now hampered

01 Jan 2014 11:25AM (Tournament); 54 Readers

Greg takes the first 26-17 to go game up

01 Jan 2014 11:26AM (Tournament); 55 Readers

G1 same colours
Soo puts to EB 9yN c4
B puts a duffers tice 1y e of 6
R misses y to c4
K misses duffer
R misses y to EB level with 6
B to c4

01 Jan 2014 11:57AM (Tournament); 55 Readers

Y misses r t 1ft w of c3
K shoots at B on the SB. middles it. I will expect we will be having a leave

01 Jan 2014 12:00PM (Tournament); 54 Readers

R is 5y n of 2, y is just over a yard guessing 15 degrees in front of h1, b 2y out of c4 on sb an k 2ft n of that with a rush to r

01 Jan 2014 12:06PM (Tournament); 54 Readers

On easy conditions some players (probably dopey buggers like myself) would just try an smash y off the NB, not on these hoops though. Y turns round, Middles K. Good chance for a break now

01 Jan 2014 12:07PM (Tournament); 54 Readers

Good jump shot at h1 but now has an 8y return on b

01 Jan 2014 12:09PM (Tournament); 57 Readers

middles it to SB

01 Jan 2014 12:09PM (Tournament); 55 Readers

Soo approaching h3, break laid out an I'm off for a walk

01 Jan 2014 12:15PM (Tournament); 57 Readers

Soo has a spread, Bryant lifts B (WB ball) and is shooting down the line

01 Jan 2014 12:34PM (Tournament); 60 Readers

Hits the inlawn ball, finishes 3y s of 4. A bit unlucky to land there I think. Will we potentially be seeing a TPO or a break to 4b?

01 Jan 2014 12:35PM (Tournament); 58 Readers

A few errors from both players, Soo over approached h3 and played a scatter followed by Bryant missing a 7yarder. Making a leave, currently has k (h2) 3ys of 4, b (h1) 5ye of 3 and r an y laid up in c3

01 Jan 2014 1:07PM (Tournament); 17 Readers

Soo's 2nd ball round doesn't get to the peg, had a difficult 2b, ran it but missed semi-hampered 4 yarder on partner. Greg playing his h2 ball an on a laid break currently approaching h4

01 Jan 2014 1:31PM (Tournament); 40 Readers

If you weren't aware, Aaron completed his match with a 2-0 win over Rich. However, it could have definitely gone to a third and Rich was playing significantly better than the previous two days. This gives NZ a 8-0 test match lead

01 Jan 2014 1:32PM (Tournament); 40 Readers

Greg approaching 2b.. y over at 3b an looks as if he will be trying to put r on the back of h1

01 Jan 2014 1:42PM (Tournament); 37 Readers

has r on the back of h1, y peg high on WB an rolling b an k into c2 an s from 3y n of h5

01 Jan 2014 1:56PM (Tournament); 36 Readers

Soo hit the leave, didn't get going off it. A few turns later an now has a leave, Laid up in c1 greg shooting from s of h4 with his 4b ball

01 Jan 2014 2:18PM (Tournament); 27 Readers

Hits! What leave will we see?

01 Jan 2014 2:19PM (Tournament); 26 Readers

Greg has the innings and has a leave. R is EB peg high maybe a yard in lawn, Y is just out of C1, B an K laid up in C2 with a rush to C1
Y goes to c4

01 Jan 2014 2:30PM (Tournament); 35 Readers

rushes to h1, thick take off from 7y NNE finishes 1.5y 40 degrees

01 Jan 2014 2:33PM (Tournament); 32 Readers

Greg has played some really nice shots and has a standard TP out, peeled 4b after 3 an approaching h4 now

01 Jan 2014 2:51PM (Tournament); 42 Readers

Penault is peeled and loading 2b from edge of b baulk going to a nice 1b pioneer

01 Jan 2014 2:59PM (Tournament); 39 Readers

Greg lining up Rover penaul from 1y NNE going to a 3b pioneer which is 4.5y SSW of 3b.. just get the rush bro that's all you need

01 Jan 2014 3:07PM (Tournament); 41 Readers

probably the biggest shot remaining in the turn here

01 Jan 2014 3:07PM (Tournament); 38 Readers

adjusts the peel again...

01 Jan 2014 3:08PM (Tournament); 38 Readers

Big just of wind just pushed one of the hoop trolleys a yard so waiting for that to blow over (bit of a wind joke there).. Jawses peele but doesn't have a good rush to 3b, good cut could get it to 2y straight, pays the safe option less cut but approaching from 3y straight in front now

01 Jan 2014 3:09PM (Tournament); 40 Readers

It hit the dry patch and...

01 Jan 2014 3:10PM (Tournament); 39 Readers

pulled up a lot quicker than I thought it would. 2ft hoop here reception ball 7y N..

01 Jan 2014 3:10PM (Tournament); 39 Readers

Grovels through by a foot, will be shooting at K in Rover, has more than half a ball sticking out but still a tough shot
