Lawn 3: Maugham and Burch (ENG) vs Bald and M Fletcher (AUS) by Jarrod Coutts

Bald b an Fletcher k
Maugham r Burch y

G1
K to eb
r jus s of c2
B misses k to c4
Y misses r to c2.. touching?

01 Jan 2014 9:08AM (Tournament); 23 Readers

B smashes K to c3, takes off to 1inch from the line, rushes r 1ye of y. Gets a good rush to h1 but falls short by 4 yards

01 Jan 2014 9:11AM (Tournament); 22 Readers

take off to hoop finishes 1.5y SSW.. retires to c3
Burch middles K into c3 an has a cannon

Over on the Bowling green - normally the fastest court but currently the slowest, I can see the a baggy green on the court so Australia is in play

01 Jan 2014 9:15AM (Tournament); 30 Readers

Plays the cannon, K finishes 4y E of the peg, and B finishes 1y s of c2 on WB. doesn't get a dolly rush to 1 an will be approaching from 6y SW.. approach falls short and Beast is onto the lawn to discuss what there going to do now

01 Jan 2014 9:18AM (Tournament); 34 Readers

2 minutes later an Y goes 1y w of h1 which is 2.5y s of r
Bald goes onto the lawn to play K.. shooting at Y.. good shot, middles 13 yarder to c1. Good croquet stroke and should have first break

01 Jan 2014 9:22AM (Tournament); 32 Readers

A nice recovery stroke in the form of a take off and a goo h1 an he will be away.. ugh oh h3 looks a bit angled. Rejects out of it o 6y N of reception ball which is R

01 Jan 2014 9:27AM (Tournament); 39 Readers

Bit of interaction between returning from getting my cup of tea, Burch in play but hasn't got a rush to h1 and is dead on everything else so will be another leave and another shot from the Aussies

01 Jan 2014 9:34AM (Tournament); 45 Readers

I can now see a yellow clip on 4b, b an r still on h1 an k on h3. The lift must have been taken as K(bald) is in c3, b is on the wb level with 1 an r has a rush on y to h2 2y N of h4 on the eb. Bald shoots with k but misses into c4

01 Jan 2014 10:08AM (Tournament); 53 Readers

Maugham is rushing balls all over the gaff to try an dig the break out, b is the pioneer for h4 is 5ys of the hoop 4 and k has been rushed 2y n of the peg with y sitting eagerly at h3

01 Jan 2014 10:16AM (Tournament); 47 Readers

good 2ft h3 and the Beast has partner in the jaws of 4b and has rushed K to c4. Would expect him to finish from here, will keep you updated if anything exciting happens

01 Jan 2014 10:19AM (Tournament); 48 Readers

Maugham grovels through h5 with red, K is 4y N maybe 15 degrees, hard to say if it is a tough shot from this angle. Spanks it! misses k but half balls b at h6 rushing it to 4y W of h3. Im guessing he has to sacrifice the peel at present and take y well south to either send it back or put it to 1b and take k to h6

01 Jan 2014 10:24AM (Tournament); 49 Readers

makes h6, puts k 3y s of 3, goes to b, sends that to 2b an taking y to 1b

01 Jan 2014 10:27AM (Tournament); 47 Readers

r sticks in 1b. I don't think that will give me the photo opportunity of Dave with a smile that I'm hoping to obtain this series ;)

01 Jan 2014 10:29AM (Tournament); 50 Readers

B misses r or y - unsure what he was shooting at sorry

01 Jan 2014 10:31AM (Tournament); 48 Readers

makes 1b, rushes y o c3, loads 3b getting a 1ft rush pointing peg high on wb to 2b, cuts it onto the peg, finishes 2y wnw of peg, now standing there deciding what to do. Round of applause from lawn 1, toby goes game up :)

01 Jan 2014 10:33AM (Tournament); 47 Readers

sends k 2y of wb level with peg going to b on nb level with 2, guessing b will go to c2 an r to c4? nope, he's having a look at something else over by y (which is 7ye of h5)

01 Jan 2014 10:35AM (Tournament); 44 Readers

Well I was right, b goes to c2 but r doesn't go to c4 or by y where he was looking. r stays on nb 5ye of b as b just goes past the line

01 Jan 2014 10:36AM (Tournament); 45 Readers

B snicks r and Malcolm is in play

01 Jan 2014 11:08AM (Tournament); 49 Readers

Maugham (r) has just run rover and will be having a spread for 4b an peg vs 3 and can't see the b clip.. k is at the peg an b is 4y of wb level with 6

01 Jan 2014 11:18AM (Tournament); 51 Readers

Bald (k) hits the lift and is away.. we think B is up to h4

01 Jan 2014 11:24AM (Tournament); 47 Readers

We were wrong.. Malcolm (b) was on 4b. Bald has gone round an taken Dave (r) off. We now have 4b an peg (AUS) vs 4b alone - Burch

01 Jan 2014 11:43AM (Tournament); 54 Readers

Y hits ball in c2, rolls over to 4b.. fails 3y hoop

01 Jan 2014 11:43AM (Tournament); 53 Readers

b an k joined in c1.. Burch shooting from 2y s of 4b.. 1/2 balls b an gives himself his best chance of finishing

01 Jan 2014 11:46AM (Tournament); 50 Readers

rushes y (4b) to 2.5y w of 4b

01 Jan 2014 12:06PM (Tournament); 56 Readers

g2
Unsure of the opening but Burch appears to have had first break but made an error as there is a clip on 1b. Bald now going round was going to have an NSL but stuck in 3b from nowhere?
On court 1 Maloof has just tied it up 1-1 with Garrison with a 26-16

01 Jan 2014 12:59PM (Tournament); 55 Readers

Unsure what dave did, but R is on h2, Jamie still on 1b an Malcolm approaching h3 with a break laid out. will it be to the peg or another attempt at a delayed tp?

01 Jan 2014 1:10PM (Tournament); 55 Readers

Just heard dave missed a 4y return after H1. Went to play the shot, took his jacket off first, came back, missed, but the jacket isn't back on

01 Jan 2014 1:12PM (Tournament); 57 Readers

I think I saw Malcolms clip on 3b at one point, but it is now on the peg and Bald has just played a roll from c4 loading penault and getting a 2ft rush on b to 4b which was a few yards s of h6 to start off with. Looks like we will be going to a third in this one

01 Jan 2014 1:37PM (Tournament); 64 Readers

Aus wins G2 26-7

01 Jan 2014 1:47PM (Tournament); 29 Readers

01 Jan 2014 2:30PM (Tournament); 36 Readers

Good shot, is away. will be a delayed TP though

01 Jan 2014 2:30PM (Tournament); 39 Readers

Attempts 4b peel going to 6 from a yard.. jawses.. looks like Toby has just run rover in g3

01 Jan 2014 2:41PM (Tournament); 41 Readers

Paddy also on 1st break I think 5th turn against Ben in g1 after Ben failed h1 from just over a yard

01 Jan 2014 2:41PM (Tournament); 40 Readers

disappeared and its happened again! clip on penault an 3b, unsure how. Assuming Aussie missed as dave is back in on a break to the peg. B still on 2b an K still on h1

01 Jan 2014 2:57PM (Tournament); 33 Readers

Not sure if Dave had a leave or if he managed to get the straight double (sack the commentator for wandering off to much!) but they have just finished the match to give ENG a 2-1 win and a 9-2 overall lead in the test
