MacRobertson Shield
Test 2 Day 2 Preview by Jarrod Coutts
Kia Ora,
Welcome to day 2 of the second test between Australia and New Zealand.
I had a bit of a strike out with the commentary yesterday so apologies about that. Today will be a better day for the readers! Again I'm unsure who/if we will have commentary at Te Mata between the USA and ENG but thanks to Kevin for his efforts yesterday.
Yesterdays play saw some marathon matches played with the fastest being a 2-0 win to Chris an Paddy over Malcolm and Ken in 6 hours to give NZ first points on the board. It was looking like a 2-0 win was on the cards for Australian pair Fletcher an Forster before the Kiwi fightback from Westerby an Garrison saw them tie the match with the second game finishing at 8pm and the third suspended until the next available space.
It was another tough ground out match from NZ pair Bryant an J Clarke with a 2-0 12 hour match win over Dumergue and O'Leary.
The conditions were extremely tough with hoops 'more difficult than United on the last day' and the wind playing its part from 11am till late.
Today will be another tough day for all the pairings and the matches we have are;
Fletcher an Forster vs Clarke an Chapman
Bald an Fletcher vs Clarke an Bryant
Dumergue an O'Leary vs Garrison an Westeby.
The current state of play is;
NZ 2 AUS 0 (1 match incomplete and 1-1)
I will be commentating on the top two lawns and welcome to Josh 'croquet' Smith on the commentary team who will be covering lawn 6 for me.
The wind is here again, current temperature is 21 degrees with an expected high of 27. Courts yesterday were running at about 12.5 seconds so I would expect the same if not closer to 13.5 today. Good luck to both teams on a good days play.
GO KIWI'S!
