Tim has just this moment failed H6 with blue, off partner. Jenny's H1 ball is at 1b as a pioneer, with red waiting nicely at H1.
Jenny hits her 7 yarder adn should have a 4-ball break now.

Unlucky at H2 by running it hard, planning to hit reception ball - but somehow failed to make contact on the way through.
Of course, Dr Reliable hit her 7yd return and carried on.

Now on H5

Got slightly long, angled position at H5, and elected to run it hard (due to 3 reception balls - pilot, pivot, pioneer). . Yellow ran the hoop, but only by an inch, so the ref is on to watch the hampered stroke. Looks fairly straight from this angle...

Nails it. Normal service resumed.

It's been raining here on and off for the last hour or so. Not heavy, just annoying. I think it's taking the bite out of the courts slightly, possibly with hills becoming less pronounced.
The big determining factor in this test has been accuracy around hoop approaches, due to the very firm Atkins hoops and the often less-than-flat ground in front of them.

Curse of the commentator strikes again. Jenny has stuck in 1b. Looked like she got some unwanted hill on the approach too, and the hoop wasn't the easiest. Ref is testing the hoop now - it's fine.
Tim is now on the lawn and has a short roquet with his H6 ball.

Just to recap. Jenny now on 1b with Y and 4b with R. Tim on H6 with B and penult with K.

Tim has made H6 with a deep ball, but no pioneer at 1b. That is located 2yd NW of H6. The fourth ball is a pioneer at 2b, so one good shot required to get a rush to 1b - he's rushed it about 1yd NW of 1b and approached to 1ft angled position. Run it, and this should now be a ball to the peg.

Tim doesn't have a 4-back pioneer

Ended up approaching 4b from 2yds SW but got it in front enough to run through to the boundary.
Also doesn't have a penult pioneer...but now the rain is getting harder, the courts are just at a very pedestrian pace. Lack of pioneer shouldn't be a problem

No wait, he's approaching penult from 2yd to the side, leaving a 2foot angled hoop, which he runs and has a 5yd return.

I'm rather pleased I have finished for the day...bucketing down now.

After rover, he has rushed oppo ball to the peg into a perfect cross-peg situation, so that is the leave he is having.
Strangely he has not made any attempt at wiring along the 2-4 diagonal, and has left the balls more on the 1-3 diagonal. Jenny will have her choice of 13-14 yarders...

Tim has two hoops to make with black to force a decider.
He's donned a black/navy and yellow wet weather jacket, which really accents his dark green trackpants and fluoro-green shoes.

Average rush to penult, leaving a backward takeoff, which he nails, and runs the hoop to partner near the peg.

Looks like there is going to be a decider.

And so there is... Tim pegs out to a smattering of applause.

Game 3 commencing.
Tim has taken red and yellow, and played red to the standard spot, about level with H5 on the east boundary.
Jenny is blue and black, and has played black to about a foot south of C2.
Tim shooting at partner from C3. Good looking shot, stays straight and smacks red to about a yard from C4.
The way he was lining up his roll, I thought he was going to C2, but the lawns have slowed down so much that in fact it was just a roll up the east boundary, leaving a rush to C2-ish.

Jenny shoots from C3 down the line, and misses rather narrowly into C4.

Tim has rushed yellow to 2 yards directly south of black in C2, and has played a thick-ish take off - only succeeds in getting a rush to C3.
Rushes it to H3 and rolls Jenny's ball to H1, going to the ball in C4 (!).
Finishes 10 yards short and is retiring home to partner in C2.

Rain now bucketing down, the worst it's been all day. Chris advising there is a spray coming off the lawns when shots are played.
Jenny thinks lawns are currently about 7sec max, might see some surface flooding soon...
Wow, Tim has rushed partner near C4, rolled Jenny's C4 ball to H2, attempting to go to ball in C3 - gets about halfway with both balls - lawns are now THAT slow.

Stand-in manager is forcing players back onto the virtually unplayable lawns. Hope there are no injuries.

Jenny plays C2 ball to East boundary peg high. Lays into the shot, hits it as hard as possible, and it finishes about a foot in from the yardline.

Tim has made H1 and hit a hampered shot afterwards.
Rolls partner to south of H4, going to Jenny's ball peg high on the east boundary. 8 yards short and Tim misses.
Jenny elects not to play her next turn, as the lawns are now unplayable (hear, hear).
Might be going to appeals here....
