MacRobertson Shield
Test 3 MtM Day 1 Ken Bald & Malcolm Fletcher v Ben Rothman & David Maloof by Tony Hall
I was able to comment on some of the first game and the first half of the second game within the commentary on the match between Robert Fletcher and Tim O'Leary v Danny Huneycutt and Jim Bast. Now that has finished and we have had lunch I will concentrate on this match.
Currently the clips are U (David Maloof) on 4b and the remainder on 1. I suspect that an Australian missed the lift shot after lunch.
X. K (Ben Rothman) rushed R to 1 and bounced off.
X. R (Ken Bald) hit K made 1 and has a controlled break. He has passed 3 with no attempt at a tpo. He sticks in 6 from 18 inches straight.
X. K hits and has a break. He assembles the balls at 3 to start his triple. The first peel is jawsed after 3. He completes the peel with a rush after 4. The penult peel is done after 6 and the rover peel before 3b.

Ben finishes. One game all.
It remains a sunny , warm to hot day, probably 25 or 26 degrees with a gentle breeze. There is about 2 or 3/8 cloud in puffy cumulus.

In the match behind me the Australians Ian Dumergue and Stephen Forster have won the first game and Ian is in play in the second, with his clip on 3 and his partner's on 4b. The US clips are on 1 and 4b, Rich Lamm and Jeff Soo, I'm not sure which is which. Ian has made 4 and set up for the delayed triple. He gets the first peel before 6.
I was wrong. That last tp by Ben was the third game and the US won 2 to 1. I obviously missed a whole game while taking lunch!

I will continue the commentary on the third and last US v Australia match under this heading.
Ian Dumergue has done the first peel with his opponents clips on 1 and 4b. He has made 1b, sent an oppo ball to 3b and is approaching 2b. He makes that hoop and sets for the penult peel before 4b. He makes 3b.

Ian Dumergue puts the penult peel on the wire before 4b and completes the straight double, calling the referee for a "courtesy call" at rover.
Australia wins this match 2- nil and for the day is now ahead of the US 2 matches to 1.
Goodbye until tomorrow!
