Wednesday, the 1st day was cold, windy, soggy underfoot with very soft ground allowing no hoop stability.
Thursday (the 2nd day) was an improvement with 10 minutes of sunshine, 10 minutes of hail, 10 minutes of thunder and the rest - umm - variable. Nevertheless, Mike Crashley played his best croquet after 7pm in hail and thunder - must be his Gisborne conditioning.
Friday was almost cloudless, too hot for the southerners, too humid for the Cantabrians. The KO open started with a TOBFU (do NOT ask) with good progress being made in both Plate and Knockout events.
So far the tin-bottom trophy (a croquet ball on a tin) has a couple of candidates - this will be voted on - one managed to run into the peg with a mild split to 6 and 1 back, wired from everything. The BBWH (Bring Back Wider Hoops) trophy is also up for grabs, a 4 inch hoop gauge from last century.
At Te Mata the 4+ is progressing steadily.

In the first two games of the final, the scores were 26-10 to Toby and 26-23 to Aaron. Being late with no chance of completing the final, it was agreed that the deciding game would be played in Christchurch on or soon after 21 December.
