The 14th WCF AC World Championship
Roehampton - Day 7 by Chris Clarke
Good morning from Roehampton. It is cool, overcast and raining steadily here. The 5th game of Maugham v Beijderwellen started early at Surbiton this morning, but I don't have any info on progress as yet.

The lawns are being drawn
Bamford randomly selects lawn 3
Chapman randomly selects lawn 2
Clarke randomly selects lawn 4, so I won't have to watch her today!! :-)
That means Johnston v the winner of Maugham v Beijderwellen will be on lawn 1
Just a reminder for those of you who don't know Roehampton. There are 3 lawns in front of the croquet pavilion and 1 about 200 yards away hidden from view. Commentary will only be "live" on the front 3 lawns

Report from Surbiton is that Maugham is rover and rover with the innings against Beijderwellen on 1 and 2

It is almost 9.25, so I expect the players will be going out to practice soon.
I fancy Bamford to win in 3 or 4 v Death
I think Trimmer v Chapman will be very close
I fancy Johnston to win his match. His shooting has been phenomenal. He is hitting more than you would expect even if you hit every shot dead straight.
I fancy Fletcher to win in 3 or 4 v Clarke. He has looked extremely strong.
Beijderwellen has looked awful in patches and Maugham still looks vulnerable.

The lawns are in excellent condition. I would guess their speed has reduced from 13.5 to 13. The grass quality is phenomenal. Unfortunately. at first sight, it looks like the hoops are in the old hoop holes. They were unfailable yesterday afternoon.

This practice has been going on for at least 10 minutes now - no bell ringing here.
