A great tussle underway here in the Domestic Cup between John and Dale Jury. John was clearly in front, with Blue on rover and Bk on 2 back. But Dale is nipping at his heels, with Y on 4 back, and taking red around. An unsuccessful hoop attempt at 3 back has let John in. He makes the 7 yard roquet at 3 back with his Bk ball, loads and rushes red to 2 back to make the hoop. A squiffy hoop approach gives him a difficult hoop to run, but he succeeds and is away. It doesn't look good for Dale, with 2 balls ahead nicely and a good load at 3 back.

Oh no! John's just blobbed 3 back, Dale makes a courageous decision to use the red - which has a longer roquet but has 2 balls at its hoop - takes off to the ball at 3 back and is about to make the hoop herself. Which she blobs!!!! John misses long roquet. Dale makes 3 back, has loaded ahead nicely and is looking good.

Dale is manoeuvring the balls nicely, when things don't go to plan (this is croquet after all!), has run 4 back, court looking good.

Rats! A hesitant hoop approach at Penultimate left Dale with an awkward hoop run, which didn't come off, letting John in again. He decides against taking the lift ( or forgot), shoots and misses. Dale up, runs Penultimate and is linig up for Rover.

Done!! She hits the return roquet, and will now set the court for taking Yellow around from 4 back. John has no lift.

Dale's left John's ball a bit close, giving him a 7 yarder. He hits Dale's red which was set up at 4 back with yellow. John's playing Bk, which is for 3 back. Bu for Rover. He could finish from here.

Aaaagh!!!!!! John has blobbed 4 back, with Dale's yellow (the ball she wants to play) right there, at its hoop. She lines up, runs the hoop beautifully, court looking good, and Red on the peg.
John had Bu at Penultimate as a load, Dale sends Bk over as well. Not sure why. She uses Bu to run the hoop, hits Bk, is linin g Bk up for something at Penultimate, not sure. Plays the stroke, going to Blue, rushes Bu to make Rover - which she does, but right out to boundary! Long return roquet, which she misses. She now has 2 peg balls, but Yellow has landed right next to Bk which is still up at Penultimate.

John using Bk. Which is for Rover - I think. Can't see clip. Blue still for Rover, he's trying to rush it in front to do peel.

Johns just pegged Yellow out. And Black. Dale 12 inches from Blue, she roquets up to peg and pegs her other ball out.

Not sure what happened at the end there, but I think the Domestic Cup went very peaceably!!!
