First Day: Fortunately the very gusty winds of yesterday have somewhat abated, but still not very welcoming weather. Spain set an early lead by finishing Riva and Bravo-Ferrer despatching their opponents in short order. In the singles, Joi Elebo has just beaten Stepan Hazdra in 60 minutes.
Rain forecast in an hour but let's hope it misses us!

At the end of the first day, Spain and Sweden seem to be setting the lead.
Day two started with better prospect of weather - wind dropped significantly. Still a couple of heavy downpours during the morning's play. Canada's 2/3 team received a pasting from Austria 26-0

Canada v Spain
Jose Riva playing Paul Emmett: Jose set up sextuple on 5th turn. Completed all peels to rover but finally failed a fairly simple peel then. Let Pal in who went to 4-back. Jose missed lift and Paul continued, pegging out one of Jose's balls. Jose made a cross court hit but stuffed rover, leaving Paul to win the agme.

Thursday pm: anyone free has been watching Jose Riva play Miroslav Havlik. (Jose has been trying to comnplete a sextuple throughout the competition.)
Miroslav took the first break to 4-back and Jose missed his lift shot. After some to-ing and fro-ing Miroslav took his second ball to hoop 5 before breaking down. Jose started his sextuple and completed four peels before a misplaced oppo ball in front of penult forced him to abandon the attempt. He conmpleted his break by peeling and pegging out Miroslav's forward ball.
Miroslav didn't take the contact but hit a boundary ball, but failed to make a break. A second hit in allowed him to get to rover before failing the hoop. Jose hit in and retreated to a safe position but Miroslav made another long roquet to finish the game +4!

The tournament finshed with a win for Spain. This is not currently reflected in the results on this site as the were 8 unplayed games involving Norway which are not here. I am looking for advice as to how to report them.
