NZ Open - Singles KO

QF Lawn 6; Mulliner vs Hakes by Jarrod Coutts

I missed the opening but it sounds like Hakes nearly went round 4th turn but there is a few clips on H3. More updates shortly.

22 Jan 2016 1:20PM (Tournament); 6 Readers

It wasn't H3, it was h1! Hakes is currently taking the first ball round but started from h3.

22 Jan 2016 1:35PM (Tournament); 11 Readers

Round to 4b no problem, but an absolute mare of a shot. Was setting an NSL, didn't get the ball right at 3b so was going to finish in c2. Instead, hits the peg and finishes 5yN of h3 giving Mulliner a nice little 1Y lift.

22 Jan 2016 1:50PM (Tournament); 11 Readers

Mulliner hit the lift and has made h1 with a laid break.

22 Jan 2016 1:56PM (Tournament); 8 Readers

Fails h3. Hakes has hit with his h1 ball, good pioneer at h2 and will be rushing to h1 from 3yS of H3

22 Jan 2016 2:01PM (Tournament); 10 Readers

Mullinen on 3 and 4. Hakes on 4B and H2 but with the innings.

22 Jan 2016 2:46PM (Tournament); 14 Readers

Mulliner has the innings with a good chance of a break but is hampered after H5

22 Jan 2016 3:29PM (Tournament); 18 Readers

Hakes now on 4 and 4B

22 Jan 2016 3:29PM (Tournament); 18 Readers

Mulliner hits the hampered shot and is away. Assuming he gets to 4B this would make things 4B and 4 vs 4B and 5 with Mulliner being the former.

22 Jan 2016 3:36PM (Tournament); 19 Readers

Mulliner has all the balls round 3B.. will update with the leave

22 Jan 2016 3:41PM (Tournament); 17 Readers

NSL with a rush to H4. Hakes lifts the ball at 3B which is his 4B ball and misses down the line into c4

22 Jan 2016 3:46PM (Tournament); 18 Readers

Mulliner fails H4 and gives Hakes a choice of 8 yarders

22 Jan 2016 3:49PM (Tournament); 18 Readers

Hits the southern ball and will be making a leave

22 Jan 2016 3:51PM (Tournament); 18 Readers

Mulliner missed the leave - I'm not sure what it was and Hakes is no approaching H5 from a ft with a pioneer at H6

22 Jan 2016 3:58PM (Tournament); 14 Readers

is now*

22 Jan 2016 3:58PM (Tournament); 14 Readers

Had a god pioneer at 1B, after H6 went to get the 4th ball on EB level with 3. I'm not sure if it was a croquet stroke or take off, but B is off the lawn so Hakes' turn is all but over and gives Mulliner a 1 yarder with his 4B ball.

22 Jan 2016 4:03PM (Tournament); 14 Readers

Mulliner makes a leave with him laid up in C4, K 7Y W of the peg and B 3YE of 4B. Hakes shoots with his 4B ball (K) into C4 and hits!

22 Jan 2016 4:07PM (Tournament); 14 Readers

Rush up to east of the pioneer at 4B finishes close so will be a poor pioneer at penault but gets a tight rush to 4B.

22 Jan 2016 4:08PM (Tournament); 14 Readers

Hakes doesn't have a rover pioneer, I'm not sure if this is deliberate and he plans on stopping after penault or if he plans on stopping.

22 Jan 2016 4:11PM (Tournament); 13 Readers

Deliberate. The leave is Muliners 4B ball 8YW of the peg and his H4 ball 8YE of the peg. Hakes laid up in C2 with a 2Y rush to C1

22 Jan 2016 4:15PM (Tournament); 15 Readers

Mulliner takes the sort shot into c3 and hits. Will he play for the rover peel, go to the peg or make a leave?

22 Jan 2016 4:17PM (Tournament); 17 Readers

Mulliner fails 4B after the approach turned a corner. Hakes has a 9 yarder from penault to the failed hoop and he half balls it in the direction of the reception ball. Is Playing with his rover ball so it will be another leave. I would have liked to see him do more with the ball he first roqueted - it is just out of c3 and Mulliners H4 ball is 7YE of 2B so it wouldn't surprise me if this goes into a corner and waits for a mistake

22 Jan 2016 4:22PM (Tournament); 14 Readers

Mulliner shooting with his H4 ball at partner into C3

22 Jan 2016 4:23PM (Tournament); 16 Readers

Misses into the corner.

22 Jan 2016 4:24PM (Tournament); 16 Readers

Hakes doesn't get going and has an almost identical leave. Mulliner misses into c3 again. What can he do this time?

22 Jan 2016 4:29PM (Tournament); 15 Readers

This time plays the rover ball. Takes off to balls in c3, rushes Mulliners 4B ball down to rover, finishes 4YNNE of the hoop

22 Jan 2016 4:32PM (Tournament); 16 Readers

Reasonable approach gives him a 4ft hoop and good deep reception ball

22 Jan 2016 4:32PM (Tournament); 16 Readers

Bullies through to the boundary and should be a rush back to 1B

22 Jan 2016 4:32PM (Tournament); 15 Readers

Time has gone in the first game. Mulliner hit a big lift and this is the current position;
Mulliner 4 and 4B laid up in C4 with a rush to 4
Hakes Peg and 1B with his 1B ball just out of C2 and his peg ball 7Y E of H1

22 Jan 2016 4:41PM (Tournament); 11 Readers

22 Jan 2016 4:44PM (Tournament); 13 Readers

22 Jan 2016 4:46PM (Tournament); 14 Readers

Grovels through and gets a rush to C3 if he cuts it well

22 Jan 2016 4:47PM (Tournament); 15 Readers

Cuts it just W of C3 and is favourite to win from here

22 Jan 2016 4:48PM (Tournament); 15 Readers

Either an poor croquet stroke or poor rush as takes K off the NB level with H3. Big stroke coming up

22 Jan 2016 4:49PM (Tournament); 14 Readers
