Pacific Cup
Format for Pacific Cup 2016 by Pierre Dunn
This year's Pacific Cup is being contested by 10 players from the Pacific Northwest. The field was divided into two blocks, but in order to provide a broad enough range of contests to determine seeding into the Championship and Plate competitions, each player is assigned two cross-block games in addition to the four games within his own block. As a result of the existence of these two cross-block games, all the games in the block play segment of the competition are being reported as belonging to one block (the "Red and White" Block). The top finishers in each block will be given byes through the first round of the Championship ladder, but may not end up being the two top finishers in the "Red and White" block play. This commentary will note the outcome of the two separate blocks (the Red Block and the White Block) so readers can see how the players were selected for ladder play.
