GC Open Singles Day 1- Barry Jennings v Greg Fletcher by Fleur Brockway

Good morning sports fans and hello from chilly Cairnlea! I'll try to intermittently do some commentary while I'm still in Melbourne. The sun is still out (for the moment) so play should be quick. Unfortunately Eric Miller has had to withdraw so Block A no longer has a bye.

Y clears blue, Blue misses the return, red laces the ball just outside of the jaws- clearly not as runnable as I thought. Blk has missed the 7yrd clearance from the East boundary- only hit it very gently so I'm not surprised it missed.

Y now has the perfect opportunity to use snick Blk and get down to 4. 3yarder. Greg get 3/4down the lawn, about 4yrds from the E boundary. Great shot.

Blue is hampered from Red, plays to position and R makes the hoop, landing 3yrds to the left of 4 about a foot past the hoop

Blk plays for nice position, not a great idea since R is right there. Y then comes a yrd and a bit in front. Blue has a pot shot and misses well to the left. Red clears blk, snicks to the south boundary. Yellow tries to wire from blue and blk on south boundary....

Ok, tea is brewing. back to hoop 4 which Greg should have made ages ago. Y is in a runnable position 1. something yrds from the hoop. Black has just missed the roquet from south boundary, 2 yrds to the left of the hoop. Y runs. Nice save from Greg.
