Congratulations go to Australia on winning 8-4 in the final against Spain. On an individual level Chris Mcwhirter played 14 and won 14, and captained Australia to victory, that is a good week in croquet. Rafael Romero with 14 wins from 17 games can also be proud of his achievements during the competition.

I believe the competition was a success. I attended one of the planning meetings and was impressed organisation and planning. The management was first class, but it would have been nothing if the members did not respond with similar enthusiasm. Well they did respond, doing all the tasks around the event. Car parking, catering, grounds men, hoop setters, scorers, all played their part so the players could enjoy the competition. We could ask for nothing more.

I now revert to being an ordinary player, until the Ascot cup in Cheltenham in a fortnights time.
