Conditions – Queensland ACA Golf Croquet Bronze Medal 2018
Format, draw and time limits
1. The draw was conducted by the CAQ Selection Committee using the ACA Seeding and Draw procedures and the world ranking list as at July 2018.
2. The Tournament is an ACA event and is to be Run under the ACA Tournament Regulations as at 16 February 2016 (available at https://croquet-australia.com.au/tregs-amended-12-february-2016.pdf)
3. The format is a Round Robin, with all matches being best of three games unless otherwise specified.
4. This is a three day event with registration from 6:45 am and play starting at 7:30 am. 3 matches to be played Saturday, 3 on Sunday and the final 3 on Monday. If time permits players may be required to play the first or even the second game of following day’s first match.
5. A competitor forfeiting a game will be scratched from the competition and scores for and against are deleted from the results, however results of games played are to be entered on handicap cards and will count for rankings.
6. The match winner shall be the player who wins 2 games in a best of 3 match. In the event that a player wins the first 2 games the 3rd game will not be played.
7. The tournament winner will represent Queensland in Brisbane at the ACA gold medal event in September. The runner up will be the substitute Queensland representative in the event that the selectors agree to the withdrawal of the qualifying Queensland representative. No medals will be presented at this preliminary event for the ACA Gold Medal.
8. Each best of three games shall be untimed but the Tournament Manager may impose a time limit in terms of TReg 16.2.
9. Alternative venues may be used if necessary.
Laws, hoops and balls
10. This event will be played under the Australian Tournament Regulations (updated 12 February 2016) and Rules of Golf Croquet, (Nov 2013), and all amendments as adopted by Croquet Australia.
11. Hoops are to be set as near as possible to 3 11/16 inches. (as per TR 15.6.1)
12. Dawson International balls will be used.
Practice, start times, breaks & expeditious play.
13. After the coin toss for start position and ball colour a 5 minute warm up period with the 2 balls will be permitted before a player’s first game of the day, when hoops may only be run in a controlled fashion.
14. The players toss at the start of the first match and the opponent is deemed to have won the toss for the second match. If a third game is played the original winner of the toss will be deemed to have won the toss for the third match. It is important that you record the winner of the toss on your result card.
15. Courts may be available for practice from 6:45am to 7.15am each day, when hoops may only be run in a controlled fashion.
16. Matches shall commence at 7:30 am sharp unless otherwise indicated. Players are requested arrive at the venue at least 30 minutes prior to commencement for registration and player welcome and briefing announcement to be at their designated court before the scheduled starting time. Please provide emergency contact details on registration.
17. The Tournament Manager will advise break allowances at the player briefing and has discretion to modify these allowances. Game results are to be recorded and initialed by both players after each game and handed in at the completion of each match. The Tournament Manager and referees will ensure games go on expeditiously to enable completion of the scheduled program.
Management
18. Courts will be allocated by the Tournament Manager and games will be double banked as required.
19. It is mandatory for players to ask the Tournament Manager if they wish to leave the venue for any reason.
20. The Tournament Manager will decide whether play in any match should continue if the weather is deteriorating. The CAQ Extreme Weather Policy shall apply.
21. The Tournament Manager in consultation with the Croquet Queensland may make any alterations to the program, draw and other arrangements as are necessary in order to complete the tournament in the time available.
22. Game results are to be recorded on player ACA GC Handicap Cards (2017) in this Tournament. Players must ensure that they have their handicap cards with them and present them to the Tournament Manager on registration and at the completion of the event for index recording. Handicap changes will be effective after completion of any game in which players pass a trigger point (in accordance with the updated ACA GC Handicap Regulations (3 April 2017)
23. An appeals committee comprising the Tournament Manager, the Tournament Referee and any available non-involved member of the CAQ Tournament Committee shall determine any matters that are in dispute during the course of the tournament.
