2020– Queensland Men’s Open Singles Golf Championship
Conditions of Play
Format, draw and time limits
1. The draw was conducted by the CAQ Tournament Committee using the ACA Seeding and Draw procedures and the world ranking list as at close of entries.
2. Handicap cards * Handicap Cards * These must be presented to the Tournament Manager or delegated Tournament Administrator at registration and updated after each game. This tournament will be a Level Play event.
3. The Tournament is a CAQ event and is to be run under the ACA Tournament Regulations as at 16 September 2018, link https://croquet-australia.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2018/12/TRegs-Amended-16-September-2018.pdf
4. The format is a Round Robin played in four blocks with the top two players from each block proceeding to single block Round Robin to decide the Pam Shepherd Trophy for the Men’s Open Singles Championship with medals awarded to the Winner and Runner Up. The remaining players will play in a two block Round Robin with the winners of each block to play for the Carmel Donley Plate with medals awarded to the Winner and Runner up.
Games will be timed to 60 minutes. At the end of time, if the scores are equal, players will play the next hoop to reach a result. Games will be double banked. Games will be 13 point games.
5. A competitor forfeiting a game will be scratched from the competition and scores for and against are deleted from the results. However results of all games played are to be entered on handicap cards and will count for rankings.
Laws, hoops and balls
6. All events are be played under the Rules of Golf Croquet, (Jan 2019), adopted by Croquet Australia and the Australian Tournament Regulations.
7. Hoops are to be set as near as possible to 3 11/16 inches. To allow for inaccuracies in gauges, balls, hoops and setting techniques, a tolerance of ± 1/32 inch is allowed.
8. Dawson International balls will be used.
Practice, start times, game format.
9. After the coin toss for start position a 5 minute warm up period with the 2 balls will be permitted before a player’s first game of the day, when hoops may only be run in a controlled fashion.
10. Games shall commence at 8:00 am sharp unless otherwise indicated. Players are requested to arrive at the venue at least 30 minutes prior to commencement for registration and player welcome and briefing announcement to be at their designated court before the scheduled starting time. Please provide emergency contact details on registration.
11. This is a two day weekend event.
12. Players may be allowed a break of no more than 5 minutes between games and a lunch break of at the Tournament Managers discretion. Game results are to be handed in at the completion of each game and are to be signed by both players. The Tournament Manager and referees will ensure games go on expeditiously to enable completion of the scheduled program.
13. If time permits players may be required to play the first or even the second game of following day’s first match.
Management
14. Courts will be allocated by the Tournament Manager.
15. It is mandatory for players to ask the Tournament Manager if they wish to leave the venue for any reason.
16. The Tournament Manager will decide whether play in any match should continue if the weather is deteriorating. The CAQ Extreme Weather Policy shall apply.
17. The Tournament Manager in consultation with the Croquet Queensland may make any alterations to the program, draw and other arrangements as are necessary in order to complete the tournament in the time available.
18. Game results are to be recorded on player Handicap Cards in this Tournament. Players must ensure that they have their handicap cards with them and present them to the Tournament Manager on registration and at the completion of the event for index recording. Handicap changes will be effective after completion of any game in which players pass a trigger point (in accordance with the updated Golf Croquet Handicapping Regulations 1st January 2014).
19. An appeals committee comprising the Tournament Manager, the Tournament Referee and any available non-involved member of the CAQ Tournament Committee shall determine any matters that are in dispute during the course of the tournament.

Saturday 15th February 2020
7:15: Registration, coffee and practice
7:45: Player Briefing TM & TR
8:00: Round 1 of the four round robin blocks to commence
• Format: Single round robin format.
Lunch: A lunch break may be given by the Tournament Manager if time allows.
At completion of Block Play, games for the trophy and plate will begin. 2 rounds of the Finals Block, Plate Block A and Plate Block B to be played.
5:30: Finish time.
Sunday 16th February 2020
7:15: Registration, coffee and practice
7:45: Player Briefing TM & TR
8:00: Rounds of the three round robin blocks to continue.
• Trophy Format: Single round robin format.
• Plate Format: Round Robin format to continue. The Winner of Plate Block A will play the Runner Up of Plate Block B and the Winner of Plate Block B will play the Runner up of Plate Block A. The winners of these games will play in the Plate Final.
Lunch: A lunch break may be given by the Tournament Manager if time allows.
5:15: Presentation of Trophies.
