Doubles: (Thursday 5 - Friday 6 November)
Play starts at 8.30am each day. Please be on deck by 8.00am on day 1 for Opening Remarks, etc, 8.15am on day 2.
We have 6 pairs and will play the event as a single block with each match being played as BO3. Three matches will be played on Thursday and two on Friday.
Singles: (Saturday 7 - Sunday 8 November)
Play starts at 8.30am each day. Please be on deck by 8.00am on day 1 for Opening Remarks, etc, 8.15am on day 2.
We have 16 players and will start with 2 blocks of 8. The top 4 from each block will qualify for the KO with ties on wins being broken by nett points and, if necessary, who won the game between tied players.
The KO will start immediately after block play is completed with one game of a BO3 being played. The QF will be completed on Sunday, to be followed by SF and Final all as BO3 matches. There will be a Y KO for QF losers, Y losers will play a Z KO. SF losers from the main KO may have a 3rd and 4th play-off.
The 8 non-qualifiers for the main KO will enter the Plate competition. This will commence on Sunday morning and will comprise a single block of 7 rounds. Ties on wins will be broken as above.
The Draw
The draw for both singles and doubles block play will be entered on croquetscores.com using CGS rankings where available. This will be done by 31 October. A copy of the draws and their order of play will be copied to players soon thereafter.
Details regarding order of play and other relevant information, including this welcome note will also be posted in the commentary section of the CNZ NIGC Championship page on croquetscores.com. Please check this section for updates.
Double-banking and time limits
There will only be double-banking during the singles. Both doubles and singles games will generally be untimed. Time limits will only be applied should delays place tournament completion at risk.
Practice
Waikanae courts will be available 1pm - 4pm on Wednesday afternoon, 4 November, for pre-tournament practice. All players are also entitled to 5 minutes practice prior to their first game of the day. During this time hoops may be run, but only with strokes that would send the ball no further than 7 yards if the hoop was run cleanly.
Catering
There will be a Clubhouse fee of $5 per playing day for all players. Please pay this to the Manager/nominated person on the first day you are present. Morning and afternoon tea will be included in this.
Lunches will not be available at Waikanae. However, if caught short, arrangements can be made for a Waikanae member to go shopping on a player's behalf for a takeaway of some description.
Officials
Tournament Referee for the Doubles is Wayne Gair. Anne McKenzie will be Tournament Referee for the Singles. Limited referee coverage will be available. Players are encouraged to assist with shot watching for double-bankers and players on adjacent courts if necessary.
Appeals Committee
The Appeals Committee members will be Nelson Morrow, John Christie and the Tournament Referee.
