Kia ora,
Welcome to the CNZ Terminator Golf Croquet U21 Championships that will be held at Nelson Hinemoa Croquet Club from 2 – 6 April 2021.
The formats, general information, and catering are included in this letter. Please be sure to bring your AHS cards. If you have questions, please let me know.
Formats for Doubles and Singles:
Doubles: The Doubles will be played in 2 days, 2 – 3 April. Reporting time is 8:15 am for an 8:30 am start. There are 9 doubles teams entered. Formats for the two days are:
Day 1 (Friday): One block that is seeded.
• 13 point games
• No time limits
• 8 games
• No double banking
Day 2 (Saturday):
• Last game to be played in the block starting at 8:30 am.
• The top 4 will play in a Full KO Best of 3. If there is time, the final will be Best of 5. A decision will be made after the semi-finals are completed.
• Plate: The remaining 5 teams will play in a Plate. It will be single 13 point games, and the players with the bye can play each other in a friendly game.
• No double banking
Singles: There are 3 days (Sunday through Tuesday) to play the Singles. There will be double banking. Please note that daily savings time starts Sunday morning. Please adjust clocks.
• There are 21 entries in the Singles.
Day 1: 3 matches
o Four blocks of 5, 5, 5, and 6 in each seeded block.
o Best of 3 matches
o 13 point games
o Double banking
o Top 2 from each block will progress into the Full KO
o Players with a bye: The second highest seed player will play the lowest seed player, and the loser of that game will play the other player. Scores will be entered on Croquet Scores and on AHS cards but NOT towards the final results.
Day 2:
• 2 matches to complete block play. Top 2 from each block will be seeded in the Full KO.
• Full KO Quarter finals (one match Best of 3) will be played.
• Plate: Those who did not progress to the Full KO will play a Flexible Swiss 13 point games. One round will be played.
Day 3:
• Full KO
o Semi-finals (top 4 players) will play Best of 3
o No double banking for semi-finals and final
o Players who lost in the quarterfinals will play a Y and Z events Best of 3
o Finals will be Best of 5 if time permits.
o Third and fourth places will play Best of 3.
• Plate – 13 players – Swiss event
o Double banking
o 6 rounds single 13 point games. A 7th round will be played, if necessary, to find a winner.
General Information:
• Practice will be available on Thursday from 1 – 5 pm. Additional times may be arranged with the Manager. Practice will be with old hoop holes.
• Report by 8:15 am for an 8:30 start each day.
• 5 minute warm up at the beginning of each day. If someone has a bye, then warm up will be arranged before the player starts.
• All players have signed the CNZ Player Code of Conduct.
• There is an Appeals Committee, if needed.
• Blocks are on croquetscores.com. All games will be posted on croquet scores. This information will be posted in the “Commentary” section of croquet scores. Updates will be posted.
• Closing ceremony for presentation of trophy, badges and certificates will be at Nelson Hinemoa on Tuesday, 6 April after the final. Please plan to stay until about 6 pm on Tuesday for the closing.

Catering:
• A $5 per day per player.
• Morning and afternoon teas will be served starting at 9:30 am until play is finished each day. Drinks will be available from 8:15 onwards. Vegetarian options will be served.
• If you have food request, please let the manager know in advance.
• Lunches are not provided by the club. Please be sure to bring your lunch each day. A refrigerator is available to store perishables.
• Pizza night will be at Nelson Hinemoa Croquet Club on Sunday. Order # of slices and flavour by noon on Sunday. Players and friends are welcome for pizza night.
