Golf Croquet Championship of Ireland

Welcome by Simon Williams

Welcome to the 2021 Golf Croquet Championship of Ireland!

We have best of three games singles in the main draw, and single game handicap doubles.

All losing players enter the plate, which is level play singles, and mostly single games, though there will be some minor-place playoffs, and a plate final, that are best of three.

Two venues are being used: Carrickmines C&LTC, with 4 lawns, and Herbert park CC, with two lawns.

Public transport between the venues involves a walk of about a mile, with either the 145 bus or the Green Line LUAS light rail. There is a connection between the 145 and the 63 bus that brings you nearly door-to-door, but this requires some planning on the dublin bus app or website.

Light lunches, tea, coffee and bar service are available at Carrickmines, and Lolly & Cooke's Café is beside the lawns at Herbert Park.

Anybody wanting sushi freshly prepared by a friend of Carrickmines may order this at Carrickmines tomorrow (Friday) for Saturday lunchtime, or on Saturday for Sunday lunch. €7/tray.

Please present yourselves to the Manager or Deputy Manager before the start time and again after your games, to report your score and also in case another game can be arranged for you right away.

I hope and trust that time limits will not be needed. Please play promptly at all times and avoid lengthy delays in double-banking by being aware of the other game.

Some Assistant Referees are available to watch your questionable strokes, but Referees expert in the more obscure Rules of Golf Croquet are not available, and the book will have to be consulted on each occasion. Please be alert to avoid awkward errors, and to forestall your opponent about to play out of sequence.

Enjoy your croquet and each others' company this weekend and good luck to all.
