Weather
In the event of bad weather or unplayable lawns, the event will be cancelled for this year. I will endeavour to text or email you individually by 7.30am under those circumstances. I will not make contact if the tournament goes ahead as planned. Do keep an eye on the Rain Radar!
Practise
A 5-minute warm-up will be provided before play starts, but practising between games is not permitted
The Games
The Tournament will be run based on a single block comprising 5 untimed games; Lawns will be allocated for the first game only, thereafter players may commence the next game and choose either of the two lawns available which will be double banked.
If the Manager considers that the game is impeding (or likely to impede) the progress of the event, a 20 minute time limit will be imposed (Yearbook No.102 – 9.3.1). If at the end of that period, no clear winner has been identified, the game will continue for two further turns for each ball (9.2.2)
Start of Each Game
Before the bell is rung indicating the start of the first game, toss the coin and agree starting colour. Attach 6 pegs to the back of your clothing to be clearly visible to the Referee/s. Both Primary and Second colours will start play at the South-East Corner. Second colours will wait until the first players have completed hoop 2.
Scoring
At the completion of each hoop, please agree the score and at the completion of the game, agree the final score with your opponents. In the Club House, complete your AHS card and score sheet.
The Winners
The winner will be determined by the number of games won and in the event of a draw, decided on net hoops.
Auckland Marathon - Sunday 3 November
The start of this event takes place from the waterfront (King Edward Parade) in Devonport at 06.00 on Sunday. I am attaching a map of the course which shows the roads that will be closed and alternative roads to take (this will come by email as well). By the time you arrive (whether north or south of the Harbour Bridge) runners will be long gone, so please don’t be alarmed. If there are still stragglers, take the green route that is clearly marked on the map. Just allow an extra 10 minutes for your journey (20 minutes if you live well south/south-east of the bridge). There are always stewards to assist along the whole route.
We experienced exactly the same issue last year when we hosted the Primary Grade on Marathon Sunday and the roads were completely clear by 8.15!
Good luck to you all and most importantly – enjoy the friendly competition!
