CNZ South Island GC Championship
Players Note by Tom Berryman
Welcome to the CNZ SI Golf Croquet Competition. Some information for you:
The lawns will be available on Wednesday 21 February 2024 from 4pm-6pm if you would like to come and have a practice.
The Tournament will be opened by the Mayor, or a representative from Ashburton District Council at 8am on Thursday. This will be followed by housekeeping information and the information you require for the Doubles.
All games (doubles and singles) will commence at 8.30am, a 5 minute ‘hit up allowed’ each morning prior to the start of the games.
Doubles:
Thursday each doubles team will play 2 rounds against four opponents, a total of 8 x 13 point games.
Friday each team will play 1 further round of two games against their 5th opponent. When this round is complete there will be a normal round robin of one further game against each opponent. A total of 7 x 13 point games on day 2. The winner will be determined as per Tournament Regulation 20.7.8 for multi-game matches. However, in the event of significant delay to the event, alternative completion options may be used.
There will be no double banking for the doubles play.
Singles:
Saturday and Sunday:
Play will commence with two blocks of 8 playing 13 point single games. The top 4 from each block will qualify for the Main KO. The non-qualifiers will enter a 7 round Consolation event.
The KOs will be BO3 with a YKO for QF losers and a 3/4 play-off for the Main KO SF losers. The YKO SF losers will play a ZKO final.
The first four rounds of the Consolation draw will see players from prelim Block A playing opponents from prelim Block B.
To assist an earlier finish for the tournament on Sunday afternoon, we may play the first games of the KO and the Consolation event on Saturday afternoon.
Double banking will be required.
No time limits will be set; however, as Manager, I reserve the right to set a time limit if a match is holding up a round. The time limit will be according to the GC Rules.
Morning and afternoon tea will be provided, cost $5 per player per day. Lunch is also available, $10 for meats, salads, filling for bread roll, slice, fruit. Please advise if you want to order lunch, to help our catering committee with numbers. Water, tea and coffee will be available all day.
If players are interested in going out for a meal on either Friday or Saturday evening, please email me back if you are interested, and which evening you prefer, so as I can do a booking.
Looking forward to seeing you at Waireka Croquet Club.
