Doubles playoff has begun by Paul Bennett

--- Doubles playoff has begun ---

The Maloofs - David and Kyle - chose stripes and made a quick finish of the current National Champions - Blake Fields and Tom Balding 7-2, 7-4.

The top seeds - Ben Rothman and Matt Essick - fell behind 4-2 in their first game against Kent Lovvorn & Dick Boger, but then finished strong 7-5, 7-3.

The second top seeds - Josh Freeth and Edmund Fordyce - won their first game with a spectacular take away that scored hoop 10 from a long distance. Both games 7-3, 7-3.

And on court 4, the battles were both very close. Sherif Abdelwahab and Stephen Morgan took out Mohammad Kamal and Brian Lozano 7-5, 7-5.

In First Flight, the players are playing in two sets of playoff ladders called a Draw and Process format.

In the Process, Greg Fischer and Donna Dixon will face Shep Slater and Robert Smothers in the last round Wednesday at 2:20.

The Draw will begin Wednesday morning at 8:30.

Players knocked out of both D & P will be entered into the Plate event by a draw happening around lunch time tomorrow.
