Many thanks to all of you for your support today, in light of unexpectedly long waits between games. Today we finished 82 of the 120 games I had scheduled. The WCF considers double-banking in GC to be for emergencies only, but strictly speaking the Qualifier is not a WCF event, and I should have started double-banking once it became clear how far behind we were getting. I will correct that tomorrow (Day 2). We will also start play half an hour earlier, the lawns having been set already.

The players who finished 5 games today will have a late start (please be ready by 9:00): Alfonso Ayuso, Kate McLoughlin, Kendall Hendrick, Jose Ignacio Alonso. All others please be ready to begin warm-up at 8:00.

This means we will double-bank on six lawns. It is my hope that this measure, along with the usual faster game times as an event progresses, will allow us to get back on track. At any rate I will be planning, in consultation with the rest of the WCF Tournament Group, what other possible steps to take to ensure a proper finish to the event.
