Australian GC Presidents' Eights
Conditions of Play by Peter Freer
1. Entries were sufficient for four Open Eights
2. Each Eight plays a single round robin of best of 3 game matches (ie 7 bo3 in three days).
3. Random draw within each block.
4. All games are best of 13 point games.
5. The Eights will play from 8am each day, or earlier if decided by the Tournament Manager.
Each Player will play two matches each day, and a third match on one day, on as early a date as possible
- it is desirable to complete a third match on the same day rather than stop play during a bo3 and resume
the bo3 on a later day. However, Players may refuse to play more than 7 games per day
6. Dawson International balls and Atkins Quadway hoops will be used. Hoops will be set as near
as possible to 3+11/16 inches, with a tolerance of + zero or - 1/64 inch.
7. Games will be 75 minutes in length plus three rotations. If double banked, Players are encouraged to
allow groups through. If this occurs, timers can be stopped as soon as the decision is made and not
restarted until the current hoop has been scored and all four balls have then approached the next hoop.
8. Winner of each Eight will be determined as per Croquet Australia Tournament Regulation 20.1.5
9. The winners of each Eight will be awarded a medallion and – as appropriate - the following perpetual trophy
- The First Eight Trophy; The Second Eight Plaque, The Third Eight Trophy. Runners up will also
be awarded a medallion. Winners are responsible for arranging engraving of their trophy after seeking
approval from Croquet Australia, and Croquet Australia will reimburse the recipient for the costs of
engraving and postage. Each winner of a trophy is to ensure that it is returned to the venue no later than
the first day of the next event.
10. Players are to wear neat and appropriate sporting attire as per Croquet Australia Tournament Regulation 12.7.
11. Tea & coffee will be provided free. It has not been confirmed if food will be available for sale at each venue,
but orders will be taken from the local shops to be delivered, or you can bring your own food to VCC
Please Note:
The Tournament Manager in consultation with the CA Representative, may make any alterations to the program,
draw and other arrangements as are necessary in order to complete the tournament in the time available.
