Dear All
Thank you for entering the United AC weekend. Play will start at 8.30am. Please arrive before 8.20am if you would like a 5-minute warm-up prior to starting. We currently have 8 entries in the Open and 8 in the Handicap.
The provisional formats are:
Handicap – Two American blocks of 4. Three 2.5hr games on Saturday. On Sunday there will be two 3hr games. Regulation 9 applies. The top two from each block will play a full knockout. The lower two will play a full knockout for the plate. If players are on equal wins it will be based on net points, then the winner of the game between the tied players.
Open - Flexible Swiss - no time limits, except I reserve the right to apply time limits on Sunday so the event can finish at a reasonable time for players from out-of-town to get away. Regulation 9 will then apply. Minimum 5 games in order to qualify to win. Must be available to play a game starting after 1pm on Sunday. In the event of a tie on percentage wins, the winner will be decided by;
1. Average strength of opponent (opponents wins divided by opponents’ games)
2. Who beat who
In the event of a tie after these two procedures, the event will be shared.

Please bring your own lunches or place an order for Subway by 10am and I'll go and pick up a group order.

Clocks move forward an hour on Sunday morning, so please remember to arrive at the new 8.30, not 9.30!!
The tournament is sponsored by Margaret Stoddart Retirement Village and there will be prizes in both events for winner and runner-up. Additionally, there will be a prize for the player in the Open who gains the most index points but does not come 1st or 2nd.
