Cheltenham May Advanced
Pre tournament information by Sarah Hayes
Weather forecast is not good for the weekend so all players are remined to bring waterproofs and umbrellas plus a chair if they want to sit down.
Day 1 will see 8 blocks playing as follows:
6 blocks of 4 players - all play all - order of play will be provided - allocated lawns are included in the block name.
2 blocks of 3 players - cross block - order will be provided - allocated lawns are included in the block name.
Play will stay on allocated lawns for the day - 2.75 hour time limits.
The 8 block winners will progress to a KO on Day 2.
Everyone else (plus the first round KO losers) will be in the consolation event which will be a Hands Ladder. All matches played over the 2 days will count towards this.
You are expected to play 2 games Sunday if in the consolation but additional games will be available if there are willing opponents.
Within croquetscores - the tab marked hands ladder will be recording the games other than block or KO games - so if you are looking at how people are doing in the consolation remember to view their other results.
Julia Lowery has kindly agreed to attend and do all results recording within croquetscores - please do not come and invade her (or me for that matter) as results will be collected.
The KO order will be a standard 1 through 8 as if seeded - blocks in order of 1 to 8 are Blue/Red/Black/Yellow/Green/Pink/Brown and White
so the KO will be from the top - Blue vs White Green vs Yellow Black vs Pink Red vs Brown
All details being sent to players later today.

Thought I should expand my comment regarding the KO.
The standard order is 1 vs 8; 5 vs 4; 3 vs 6 and 2 vs 7.
So what about the cross block I hear you ask? won't the winners potentially meet again in the KO?
Answer - the observant amongst you will have spotted that number 2 seed (winner Red) will play number 8 seed (winner White) in the cross block on Day 1. Within the KO the only way these 2 could meet again is in the final.
Clear as mud eh?
