NZ Open Championship

Welcome to the NZ Open Championship that will be held at two venues, Croquet Mount Maunganui (CMM) and Whakatane Croquet Club. 14th to 22 January 2017.
The formats, general information, and catering are included in this message. If you have questions, please let me know.
Formats: The formats for the Open and Doubles events are based on giving the full tournament play for all competitors and achieve a matchplay format.
Open Doubles: The Open Doubles will be played Saturday, Sunday and Monday held at Croquet Mount Maunganui.
The format is:
All games Bo3
· Day 1): (Saturday) First round of knockout competitions, plus beginning of 2 round competition.·
· Day 2): Complete 2 round in X in the morning, afternoon Quarter Finals
. Y Block to play Sunday afternoon, final Monday
. Z Block to play Monday afternoon.
. Day 3): Monday, Final of Doubles
· First round losers will be played in reverse order KO Bo3 to determine Plate Winner.
Open Singles: (Tuesday through Thursday mid-day) to play the Open Singles Blocks. Games will be played at the Croquet Mount Manganui with single sections played at Whakatane·
o Four blocks of 8
o Single matches
o Double banking at Croquet Mount Maunganui. No double banking at Whakatane
o Block 4 singles at Whakatane on Tuesday, Block 2 at Whakatane on Wednesday. Thursday all blocks at CMM.
o Top 4 from each block will progress into the Full KO
· Four days (Thursday afternoon to Sunday):
o Full KO for 16 players. Four top players in each block will enter into a Full KO.
o Players’ Choice will used for the KO seeding.
o Y & Z, will be fully played for those who are knocked out of main KO draw
o Bo3, if possible Bo5 forFinals
o Some Double banking until Semi Finals

§ Number of players will determine format.
§ Double banking
§ Venue to be determined either Mount and Whakatane based on player numbers.
General Information:
· Practice on the respective lawns will be available on Friday, 14 January, from 11-4 pm. Additional times may be arranged with the Manager.
· Report to the respective club by 8:15 am for an 8:30 start each day.
· 5 minute warm up at the beginning of each day.
· All players have signed the CNZ Player Code of Conduct.
· There is an Appeals Committee, if needed. Names advised to opening ceremony.
· Blocks are on croquetscores.com. All games will be posted on croquet scores. .
. Manager is Geoff Young, Referee is Allister McGregor.
Catering:
· A $3 per day per player is paid to Croquet Mount Maunganui, $5 per day to Whakatane Croquet Club.
· Tea and coffee will be available from 8:15 onwards.
· Lunches are available upon request.
o Croquet Mount Maunganui will have restaurant facilities available except on Monday when there will only be bar snakes
o Whakatane will be able to lunch purchase if required
· A players meal will be arranged , cost $25 at CMM, Saturday 21st January. Menue on request, Please advise if attending.

Also to note there is a food market down at Coronation Park, (downtown Mount Maunganui) which has some great food of a Friday night. If you require a good bakery, There is one between Grove Ave and Maunganui Road roundabout.(closed Monday) Another one at beginning of main street Mount Maunganui opposite Mexican Food. Also the Flaveur Bakery 31 Totata Street, make nice sandwiches but not till after about 9.30.
